What we need
To create meaningful surf experiences for Deaf youth and young adults, we need the right gear, transportation support, lodging, food, and community partners. In Oregon, cold water makes wetsuits essential, and because space is limited, we rely on shared equipment and local support to keep trips simple and accessible. These basics help us make each experience safe, welcoming, and affordable.
How partnerships help
Partnerships make this work possible. Surf shops, local businesses, and community organizations help provide equipment, reduce costs, and open doors to experiences that would otherwise be out of reach. Their support allows us to focus on what matters most: getting Deaf youth and young adults into the water and giving them a space to grow, connect, and feel confident.
Where this is going
We see this as the beginning of something much bigger. As Silent Wave Project grows, we hope to expand into more coastal regions and build new partnerships that bring the same experience to more Deaf youth and young adults. Our long-term vision is to create a network of surf experiences that stretches beyond Oregon and connects people through the ocean, one shoreline at a time.
