What we need.
To create safe, welcoming, and accessible surf experiences for Deaf youth and young adults, we rely on targeted community support. Because Oregon’s waters require specialized equipment, equipping our camps involves several essential components:
Cold-Water Surf Gear: 5/4mm wetsuits, booties, hoods, and beginner-friendly soft-top surfboards.
Camp & Trail Essentials: Reliable camping gear, tents, and sleeping bags for our forest retreats. Lodges and Coastal Housing would also be welcomed.
Fuel & Nourishment: Healthy meals and snacks to keep our campers energized after hours in the water.
Transportation & Lodging: Group transport to navigate coastal roads and accessible campground spaces.
Don’t have gear to give? Monetary donations directly fund these essentials, keeping our trips completely free for participants.
How partnerships help
Partnerships are the lifeblood of our mission. By collaborating with local surf shops, regional brands, and community organizations, we are able to lower operational costs and unlock outdoor adventures that might otherwise be out of reach. These alliances allow our team to focus entirely on what matters most: providing safe mentorship, cultivating confidence, and welcoming Deaf youth into the global surf culture.
Where this is going
We see these Pacific Northwest camps as just the beginning. As the Silent Wave Project scales, our goal is to expand into new coastal regions, building regional partnerships that bring these life-changing experiences to a national audience. We are building a lasting network of inclusive outdoor spaces—connecting the Deaf community through the shared power of the ocean, one shoreline at a time.
