Empowering deaf youth to experience the impact of surfing and the world around them.
A silent world doesnt have to be noisy. The sound of stoke is a silent smile, a happy soul, an essence of joy derived from riding waves.
The Silent Wave Project: Mission Statement
"To break the isolation of the Deaf experience through the power of the ocean and camping experiences in the majestic forests of Oregon. The Silent Wave Project provides at-risk Deaf youth with the mentorship, technology, and 'First Stoke' of surfing—proving that while we live in silence, our impact is loud. We bridge the gap between adaptive technology and the untamed outdoors, one wave at a time."
Partnerships
We have partnered with local surf shops and surf instructors to for local awareness and support. We can use your support too.
Lessons for life.
The foundation was started to help young people avoid the common pitfalls that deaf people encounter in their lives from homelessness, to addiction, alcholism, bankruptcy, alienation, bullying, and just trying to keep up with a world around them that sometimes cant slow down long enough to understand it.
Expanded Missions Goals
Camping and enjoying the great outdoors of the pacific northwest is a great experience to combine with a surf trip.
Through local colloboration and partnerships we have established several locations close to surfing spots that we can run several camp retreats per year.
“With SWP, we have been able to bring an unique experience to the kids in our class”
