A cochlear story……..The first time I heard it, I thought something was wrong with the bowl.

I poured cereal, added milk… and froze.

Tiny sounds.

Snap. Crackle. Pop.

I leaned closer, confused—then started laughing.

All those years, all those bowls of cereal… and I never knew why they called them that.

Most people learn that at five.

I learned it in middle age.

That’s the strange gift of hearing later in life—the world fills with tiny miracles everyone else stopped noticing.

Cereal crackling.

Wind in the trees.

Footsteps behind you.

For the first time, the world wasn’t just something I could see…

It was something I could hear.

Sometimes its just the little things in life that make us smile. While i love my deafness, i do truly appreciate the insights into what hearing people enjoy.
